My Journey into Dentistry
Hello! I'm Rob.
I'm a local lad through and through, born and raised right here in Ottery St Mary. My journey into dentistry actually started at home; I spent my childhood watching my dad run his dental laboratory—a staple of our community for 40 years. Seeing his craft firsthand sparked a lifelong passion in me.
My Journey from Technician to Denturist
To turn that passion into a career, I headed to Cardiff University to become a fully qualified dental technician. However, I wanted to do more than just work behind the scenes. I travelled to Toronto, Canada, to study as a Denturist, which allows me to combine my technical precision with clinical care. This means I get to work directly with you, the patient, from start to finish.
I'm proud to say I was one of the first Denturists to register in the UK. I was also honored to receive the prestigious qualification from the Royal College of Surgeons (England)—a distinction held by only about 400 professionals in the country today.
Growing with the Community
In 1999, I opened my first practice in Exmouth. What started as a small, single surgery has grown organically into something much bigger! Today, we operate out of the beautifully converted Old Barclays Bank. It's now a state-of-the-art 7-surgery practice featuring:
- A purpose-built laboratory where my team and I handcraft every set of dentures.
- A dedicated team of 5 dentists, 2 hygienists/therapists, 9 nurses, and 3 friendly receptionists.
- A legacy of care: I've had the privilege of treating over 24,000 patients, helping them reclaim their smiles and their confidence.

My approach is a little different from your standard dental practice. Usually, the technician making the dentures never actually meets the person wearing them. I believe you should be at the heart of the design.
I encourage you to be "co-designers" with me. We often look at old photographs together to ensure your new smile feels authentic to you. This philosophy led me to develop my own unique system: Palette.
Why Palette?
Because I believe in building art into dental science. By using the finest materials and techniques available in the UK, we create bespoke, handmade dentures that are as unique as you are.
